Sharing power peacefully, sustainably and explicitly can be a complex exercise! We have adopted a Holacracy mode of governance. This means that decision-making processes are based on managing roles rather than people. We separate operational issues from governance issues. We use candidate-free elections and integrative decision-making for structuring choices, and rely on the authority of roles for day-to-day decisions. Holacracy (Holacratie) is a system of governance that applies the founding principles of Lean and Agility to decision-making and the distribution of responsibilities. Agility is useful to us in project management. It has also inspired us in the management of our team life. Whether on a day-to-day basis (with the daily scrum) or in longer iterations (with our team retrospectives or the Open Forum), we find each of these tools useful for making effective decisions and moving projects forward.
